New items and a Black Friday sale

Thanksgiving is less than a week away and, with it, the biggest shopping day of the year: Black Friday. With the weather getting worse (at least, in my neck of the woods!) and the crowds, I think I will opt of going out on Friday. I used to go out every year, but the pushing, shoving, and just general rudeness of some shoppers has kind of soured me on it the last couple of years. So I may take advantage of the sales online. In that spirit, we will be running a special on our site for that day. So get your coffee/cocoa, put your feet up, and swing by our shop! Be one of the first 20 shoppers on the 28th, spend jut $20 or more, and we will give you a $5 gift card good on either your next purchase or as a gift for someone else.

Just in time for this sale, we will be adding MANY new items on Wednesday (Thanksgiving eve). First up, there will be two new large tree skirts. They are approximately 58" to 60" wide, lined with armo fleece, and backed with a coordinating fabric. The skirts sell for $38. Secondly, there will be at least two different children's aprons. These, too, are lined with armo fleece and backed with coordinating fabric. Rounding out the new arrivals will be holiday placemats and more cross stitched ornaments.

Drop by now, browse, make your list and mark your calendar for Friday!

New items

The holidays are almost here----only 46 days left before Christmas! I have added some new ornaments and dishclothes to my website. With the holidays so close, I am frantically finishing up some more items to be posted by the end of the upcoming week. Check back to see new tree skirts, childrens aprons, holiday placemats, and much more. I will also be having a special for the day after Thanksgiving so keep checking for more info about that!

Two VERY different chalkboards

I have just added two new crafts to my page. The first is a very unique placemat. A typical everyday plastic placemat has become a chalkboard on one side. The other side remains plastic with activities that can be completed with dry erase markers, washable crayons, or white board crayons. A terra cotta pot, perfect for holding the chalk or other writing tools, completes the package.

The second item I have added is a wallhanging made from a chalkboard. This acts as a countdown calendar for those worried about how many days left before Christmas is upon us (which, as of today October 14, is 71!). The numbers can be erased easily and rewritten with chalk. The wording is permanently written on the board.

As the week goes on, I am hoping to be adding more items. So check out these new two, and keep an eye out for more!

Wood burnings

We still have some gorgeous woodburnings left on our site. They each have a picture hanger on the back so they may be hung on the wall or, if you prefer, you can set them up elegantly on plate holders.

Check them out at www.craftingforsanity.etsy.com!

The Men of Christmas

We have added two new aprons and a fleece scarf to my site. The first apron is depicts a lovely village of snowmen. The second is a combination of Santa and gingerbread men on an apron colored with the deeper reds and the lighter browns. Both aprons are backed with coordinating fabric as are the straps.

The scarf is a drawing of Santa's head on a backdrop of either light blue or dark blue. It is backed with a red fleece, giving it more body and warmth.

We have also received several convos regarding aprons for children. Watch for some holiday ones to be coming soon---perhaps as soon as this weekend. Also, we will be adding some holiday table runners and fireplace scarves soon. The holidays are rapidly approaching so we would advise shopping early. And don't forget our gift certificates for your shopping list!

Gift Certificates have arrived

We are very excited to announce that gift certificates are now available on our site. The preset denomination is $15, but you can convo us to order them in any amount you wish from $5 and up. The certificate then can be emailed, snail mailed, or sent as a pdf file to either you or the recipient. If you choose to send it to the recipient, we will enclose a thank you note from you. Or, if you wish, you may remain anonymous. Gift certificates are a great way to shop for that hard to shop for person---or persons!---on your list.

We would like to give a big hearty thanks to our sister site www.splazgraphicz.etsy.com for designing our gift certificate for us!

Breadclothes, Towels and a Pig

I have just added three new breadclothes, four dishtowels, and a jar topper to my site.

For everyday use, I have added breadclothes with mouth-watering treats on them. The first is stitched with apple pie, with colors so vivid you can almost smell it cooling. The second has three types of muffins, and the third is the word "cookies" stitched in the shape of different cookies. In addition, there is a dishtowel with a French chef, complete with his starched white uniform and a delectable treat on a plate.

For the holidays, I have added two new dishtowels. Santa urges us to "believe" on a full size dishtowel with red and white stripes, giving it that Christmas-y appearance. The other is a gang of snowmen standing hip to hip for what could be a portrait on a white dishtowel.
Finally, a pig has joined the list of jar toppers. He can be used for loose change, pre-wrapped towelettes, or anything else your imagination can come up with.

Join us at Crafting for Sanity to check out these new items as well as other wonderful wares!

Rudolph is back in stock

I have received several convos regarding the Rudolph fabric book. It is back in stock now!

More jar toppers

Mr. and Mrs. Snowman jar toppers have arrived. The snowman is wearing the typical top hat and scarf, with a mitten button securing the scarf and a snowman button with jiggly eyes adorning the hat. The snow woman is wearing a nightcap with a bow around her neck for warmth against the chilly winter night ahead.

I have filled both of these with sno-caps (non-pareils), but other ideas might include cotton balls or Q-tips. The possibilities are as endless as your own imagination.

Be sure to check them out!

Frosty the Snowman and School Daze Fabric Books

I have added two new fabric books to my etsy site. One is Frosty the Snowman with pictures from the original movie telling the story.

The second one is a book about school. The children in the book are drawn in such a way that makes the book comforting for an apprehensive child. It is perfect for anyone with a child getting ready to start pre-k or kindergarten.

Check out these and other great items at my etsy site!

Jar Toppers and a touch of Victorian Christmas

Two jar toppers have finally arrived to my etsy site. The first one is a cow guarding a jar full of miniature Milky Way bars. Another idea would be to use him as a "cash cow" to hold loose change.

Along with the cow is a reindeer getting ready for Christmas. In his jar is oatmeal which everyone knows is a favorite treat of Santa's team. My kids sprinkle it on the snow every year, and it disappears right after Santa stops.

In addition to the jar toppers, I have added a crocheted ornament with the feel of an old Victorian Christmas. Crocheted with crochet cotton and ribbon around a plastic ring, it is adorned with silk flowers and a gold ribbon hanger.

Check out these and other items on my site!

Snowmen and Gingerbread Men running amok

I have added a cute snowman fence and a beautiful--yet practical--gingerbread man breadcloth to my site.

The snowmen are painted onto a hangable fence. They are decked out in their winter finery (which those of us up here in the north will need all too soon!) complete with fleece hats, painted wooden mittens and boots.

The breadcloth is cross stitched on ivory aida cloth at two opposing corners with the word "joy" on either side of the gingerbread men. What makes this breadcloth even more appealing is the double backing of cotton coordinating fabric.
Check out both of these items and others at my site http://www.craftingforsanity.etsy.com/. And be on the lookout for jar toppers posted, hopefully, this weekend!

New additions

I have four new additions on my site. There is a Santa ornament with the big guy himself driving a train. I also added two new Christmas fabric books: Rudolph and a delightful book using the letters in Christmas to tell a story. The last item is a snowman apron, backed with a coordinating fabric making it reversible as well as more absorbent.
Take a moment to check these out. They may be the last new items for a couple of weeks, as I will be having surgery on Tuesday. However, any items ordered will still be shipped within two to three days of order. Keep checking back to see what pops up!

Mixed Mediums

I cannot believe how far I have come from being "just" a knitter/crocheter/cross stitcher. I now sew, paint, and work with wood. It has been a long wonderful journey---well, not always wonderful. But it has been a fabulous learning experience. I can hardly wait to see what craft comes around the next corner!

I am sure there must be more of us out there who, for one reason or another, have decided to take on multiple mediums. Let's hear from ya!

New group at WeLoveEtsy.com

Just started a new group at http://etsylove.ning.com/groups. It's called Indiana Crafters, and, while it is tailored to those of us living and crafting in Indiana, we welcome anyone who wants to join. Stop by, sit a spell. Maybe we can all learn some new things from each other!

My first post

This is my first post at this site. I currently have a webpage at http://www.craftingforsanity.etsy.com/. It has only been a couple of months, but I already find it so exciting! Hope to hear from all the other crafters out there. I look forward to learning new things and ideas and to sharing my ideas with all of you!
